Casino Canadian Editorial Policy
By Johnny Thompson, iGaming Editor & Senior Reviewer at Casino Canadian.
Independence: reviews are written from our own testing, never from operator briefs. Commercial relationships are disclosed and kept away from scoring.
Accuracy and corrections: if we got a fact wrong, we fix it and say so. Spotted something? Tell the editorial team.
Who We Are and Why This Page Exists
Casino Canadian (casinocanadian.com) publishes independent reviews and rankings of online casinos available to Canadian players. This page explains exactly how we decide what to recommend, who writes our content, how we handle errors, and how we keep commercial relationships from influencing our scores. If you ever wonder why a casino ranks where it does - or why we pulled a recommendation - the answer is here.
Editorial Independence
Casino Canadian earns revenue through affiliate commissions. When you click a link to a casino and sign up, we may receive a fee. That commercial relationship does not determine a casino's score or position in any ranking table. Casinos cannot pay to improve their rating, suppress a negative finding, or remove a review. Our editorial team operates independently of our commercial team, and no casino partner has editorial approval over any content published on this site.
If a conflict of interest arises - for example, if a casino we are actively reviewing is also a significant revenue partner - we disclose that relationship in the review and apply additional scrutiny before publishing.
Our Lead Reviewer
Johnny Thompson is Casino Canadian's iGaming Editor and Senior Reviewer. Johnny has spent over a decade covering the Canadian and international online gambling markets, with hands-on experience testing casino platforms, evaluating bonus terms, and tracking regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions. He holds direct knowledge of the regulatory frameworks that govern Canadian players, including the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), which licenses and regulates iGaming Ontario's market, and Curacao eGaming, the offshore licensing authority used by many casinos that legally accept players from provinces outside Ontario. All reviews published under Johnny's byline reflect his direct, first-person testing experience.
Our Review and Scoring Methodology
Every casino we review goes through a structured, hands-on testing process before a score is published. Here is what that looks like in practice:
Step 1 - Account Registration. A reviewer creates a real player account, documenting the sign-up process, KYC (identity verification) requirements, and any friction points.
Step 2 - Real C$ Deposit. We make a genuine deposit in Canadian dollars using at least two payment methods commonly available to Canadian players (for example, Interac e-Transfer and a credit card). We record processing times and any fees charged.
Step 3 - Bonus Claim and Term Review. We claim the welcome bonus where offered and read the full terms - wagering requirements, game contribution rates, maximum bet rules, and expiry windows. We do not simply restate the headline offer; we flag restrictive terms clearly.
Step 4 - Game Library Testing. We browse and play titles across slots, table games, and live dealer categories. We note software providers, game count, filtering tools, and whether the library matches what is advertised.
Step 5 - Timed Withdrawal. We request a real C$ withdrawal and record the time from request to funds received. Withdrawal speed is one of the most important factors for Canadian players and is weighted accordingly in our score.
Step 6 - Customer Support Contact. We contact support at least twice - once by live chat and once by email - with genuine questions. We record response times and the quality of answers.
Step 7 - Mobile Experience. We test the casino on at least one iOS and one Android device, assessing load times, navigation, and whether the full game library is accessible.
The 7-Category Weighted Score
Each casino receives a score out of 10 built from seven weighted categories:
| Category | Weight |
|---|---|
| Deposit experience | 10% |
| Bonus value and fairness | 15% |
| Game library | 20% |
| Withdrawal speed and reliability | 25% |
| Customer support | 10% |
| Mobile experience | 10% |
| Responsible gambling tools | 10% |
Withdrawal reliability carries the highest single weight because slow or blocked payouts are the most common and serious complaint from Canadian players. Responsible gambling tools are scored on the presence and accessibility of deposit limits, self-exclusion options, reality checks, and links to support resources.
Fact-Checking and Content Accuracy
Bonus terms, licensing details, and payment information change frequently. We review all published casino pages on a rolling 90-day cycle and update them when material information changes. Licensing status is verified directly against the AGCO's public register (for Ontario-facing casinos) and the Curacao eGaming licence database (for offshore operators). We do not publish a review until licensing has been confirmed.
If you spot an error - an outdated bonus figure, an incorrect licence number, or any factual inaccuracy - please contact us at [email protected]. We treat all correction requests seriously and aim to investigate and respond within five business days.
Corrections Policy
When a factual error is confirmed, we correct it promptly and add a brief correction note at the bottom of the affected page, including the date of the change. We do not silently delete or rewrite content to hide past errors. Significant corrections that affect a casino's overall score will trigger a full re-evaluation of that property.
Responsible Gambling
Casino Canadian is committed to promoting safe gambling. All casino reviews include a responsible gambling section assessing the tools available to players. We recommend that gambling be treated as entertainment, not a source of income.
Online gambling is legal in Canada for players aged 19 and older in most provinces (18 in Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec). If you or someone you know is experiencing problems with gambling, free, confidential support is available:
